Jane Cullinan

For me, it’s all about having fun and learning new things, new methods, new ideas, new techniques.

It helps my heart when people look at my work and laugh or smile. It’s my intention to do so.

I was a high school art teacher in an alternative school in New York City for 35 years. I think the idea of making art fun came from trying to capture the interest of my students. I found it so satisfying that that is what I try to do now every day with my work.

Exploring new techniques gives me more options for expressing those goals. So I love trying new things all the time. I don’t have a set style. I work mostly in mid fire, porcelain or Raku. I sometimes fiddle around with colored Clay and I’m learning to love hand building. There’s just so much to learn with Clay.
